Business Intelligence Solution Architect

Omaha, NE


CSS Staffing, based in Omaha, NE, has an open position with a large client for a Business Intelligence Solution Architect in Omaha, NE.

The successful candidate will possess the following skills:

  • The ideal candidate will come from either a consulting background or large organization where they have spent the last several years on SQL Server data warehouse implementations with at least one in the several hundred Gigabytes to low Terabyte range
  • Bachelor\'s degree in computer science, information systems or a related study, or equivalent related project experience
  • Seven to 10 years of database related experience
  • 5+ years of full life cycle SQL Server Data Warehouse/OLAP design and implementation, with at least 3 years of that experience on SQL Server 2005 or later, including experience in several of the following skills:
  • Strong T-SQL and MDX programming
  • ETL design and programming with SSIS
  • Design and implementation of partitioned, dimensional relational database structures
  • Design and implementation of partitioned SSAS cubes
  • Design and implementation of a reporting infrastructure using SSRS
  • Design, creation and deployment of custom SSRS reports using BIDS
  • Design and implementation of a SharePoint portal infrastructure
  • Design and integration of SSRS with SharePoint
  • Design and implementation of scorecards and dashboards using PerformancePoint or Microsoft Business Scorecard Manager
  • Microsoft Office integration with the MS BI stack
  • Strong experience with Kimball DW/BI design and implementation methodologies
  • Dimensional data modeling experience with a mainline data modeling tool (Erwin, ER Studio, etc.)
  • Maturity and flexibility to normally fill a lead technical role, but be work independently when required, or be a contributing peer on the implementation team if circumstances dictate
  • Strong communication skills with ability to effectively convey information to business staff in business terms and technical staff in clear, concise technical terms
  • Strong business analysis skills with experience working with internal customers and power users to build a flexible self-service BI system
  • Ability to gather and document user requirements
  • Solid documentation skills around system requirements, OLAP cube specs, report design, deployment requirements
  • A strong enterprise view for the role of BI

Core Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall design and ongoing implementation of an Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence platform based on the Microsoft SQL Server/SharePoint tool sets
  • This position requires strong Business Intelligence technical skills across the suite of Microsoft BI products, the ability to provide technical thought leadership and mentoring other team members, the ability to work with business and technology partners at all levels of the organization, and an understanding of regulatory issues related to financial information assets
